Missouri’s Cannabis Tourism in 2025

Bordering eight states—only Illinois permits adult-use (AU) cannabis—Missouri has become the Midwest’s go-to destination for cannabis tourism. Specifically, dispensaries along the Kansas border reported foot traffic increased nearly ninefold after AU legalization, while wholesale orders per store in Kansas City jumped roughly 406%. The sustained cross-border demand is unique in the region, positioning Missouri as one of the only central U.S. markets where out-of-state visitors consistently account for a significant share of total sales.

Fun Fact: Missouri’s cannabis market is one of the fastest growing in the U.S, averaging $4.17 million in sales per day as of June 2025.
