Ethan Payer

Ethan Payer — Senior Director of Supply Chain
Ethan joined BeLeaf in January 2019 during the CBD era as a Logistics Manager, where he played a key role in enhancing the company’s purchasing, sourcing, and inventory systems. After the successful application for BeLeaf’s ten medical licenses, Ethan transitioned into leading direct material sourcing and vendor management, though he has contributed to numerous projects across various departments over the past six years.

Currently, as the leader of BeLeaf’s material supply chain, Ethan is responsible for planning direct material resources and supporting services, negotiating vendor terms and contracts, and assisting other leaders in vendor sourcing and management. He also focuses on capturing both short-and-long-term cost savings for the company.

Ethan’s favorite quote: “Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity.” — John Muir

The Status of Cannabis Banking Reform

The SAFER (Secure and Fair Enforcement Regulation) Banking Act, introduced in the 118th Congress, aimed to provide cannabis businesses with access to traditional banking services, reducing their reliance on cash and improving financial security. While the bill gained bipartisan support and even passed the Senate Banking Committee, it ultimately stalled at the end of 2024 before becoming law. Now, in the 119th Congress (2025–2027), lawmakers may revisit the issue, especially as more states legalize cannabis and pressure mounts for federal reform.

Fun Fact: The cannabis industry in the U.S. is projected to surpass $50 billion in annual sales by 2028—yet many businesses still operate on a cash-only basis due to outdated banking restrictions.
