Scott Lay

Scott Lay — Financial Controller
Scott joined BeLeaf Medical in 2023 as an experienced controller with a strong background in commodities and e-commerce. He brings valuable expertise from both publicly traded companies and early-stage startups. Prior to transitioning into industry roles, Scott served as an accounting manager at a CPA firm in St. Louis. His areas of focus include mark-to-market and plant accounting, treasury management, accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, and the implementation of ERP and technology systems.

Missouri’s Cannabis Program Supports Veteran Services

Did you know that a portion of every cannabis purchase in Missouri supports military veterans? Under Missouri law, a 4% tax on medical marijuana sales and a 6% tax on adult-use cannabis go directly toward funding the Missouri Veterans Commission. These funds help maintain veterans’ homes and provide critical health services. Since the medical program launched in 2020, Missouri has transferred tens of millions of dollars to support veterans, with adult-use sales further accelerating this impact since 2023. By choosing to purchase legal cannabis, consumers are contributing to a system that gives back to those who served our country.

Fact: Missouri surpassed $1.3 billion in total cannabis sales by early 2025, with over $50 million in cannabis-derived revenue allocated to veterans’ services since the program began.
